Jobs In Real Estate
A Licensed Real Estate Agent
A lot of people expect this is where they'll start in real estate, but actually a licensed real estate agent is at the top of their field. Licensed agents are the people in charge, they can open their own real estate offices and employ people to work on their behalf. It's pretty unusual to start off by getting a real estate license, that's because the Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DEMIRS) in Western Australia requires a minimum of two years experience in the industry before you to apply, but that doesn't mean you can't start studying and preparing earlier than that!
For those looking to become licensed real estate agents, WCPT has the Diploma of Property (Agency Management) CPP51122.
Learn MoreAn Unrestricted Real Estate Representative
Unrestricted?! We know, sounds scary, but that's just the way real estate legislation in Western Australia is written. Being unrestricted means you can work in either real estate sales or in property management. Most people have a pretty good idea about which side of the fence they want to sit on, but what they don't think about is how much more valuable they are to an employer if they can do BOTH jobs. Sure, you can make one your 'thing' but the knowledge and ability to do both jobs can be truly worthwhile.
WCPT offer both restricted and unrestricted registration courses, and they're available online or face-to-face
Learn MoreReal Estate Sales Representative (restricted)
This is where most people start out, representatives or reps for ease of speaking, are the bread and butter of the real estate industry. Reps work on behalf of licensed real estate agents (they represent them!) For sales reps, this means selling property, and if you choose to complete a restricted registration course specialising in sales, that's all you'll be allowed to do.
In the case of those who just want to work in sales, WCPT have our sales representatives course (restricted). Available online or face-to-face.
Learn MoreProperty Manager (restricted)
The backbone of the industry, if you know what you're about and what you're about is property management then this is the path for you. Being a restricted registration, these reps are only allowed to perform property management activities. Property managers also work on behalf of a licensed real estate agent, but instead of sales, they manage rentals in both the residential and commercial sectors.
For those looking to work exclusively in property management, WCPT has our property management registration course (restricted). Available face-to-face or online.
